This is coming from a business information systems major specializing in network administration □.To get access to every router of Ubee (e.g. Save yourself the headache and get your own modem and router. Cant believe spectrum continues to give out faulty intel modems when theres a class action lawsuit against intel over the puma 6 chipset and probably a soon to be class action suit for the puma 7 chipset. The arris modem we got was literally 59.99$ at walmart. Set it up and no issues for the last 3 months □ to anyone reading this if your having these issues buy your own modem and or router cuz calling support is worthless. Finally decided to go to walmart and get an arris surfboard sb6183. Took us 3 months of calling support and switching equipment out even switched our modem at a store and same thing. We had our own mesh wifi router but their modem. We called tech support and when they came out said everything looked fine from the pole to the data center and left. 2 days later we had insane packet loss, latency issues and a consistent ping of 1500ms □. We have the base 200 down package and shortly before lockdown spectrum sent us a new modem and router saying if we dont switch to the new equipment our internet wouldnt work anymore. Tl dr: Spectrum's newer modems are crap and don't work, so buy your own that does not have an Intel Puma chipset.oh, and Spectrum will never tell you this, they will just sit there and laugh while you troubleshoot for no reason. So, I'm putting this here on reddit, so if another poor soul is having the same issue, maybe they won't have to exert the same amount of effort I have to actually use the service that they are paying for. The lying and complete disrespect for customers is off the charts. I am completely dumbfounded at why Spectrum would continue to use these modems when they clearly can't handle more than 1 user.or at the very least provide this information when someone is having an issue. So, I then run out and grab a Netgear CM600, contact Spectrum to swap it in, and BOOM, immediately all issues are gone, no packet loss or Lag and full 500/20 Mbps speed.Ī few days later, The tech shows up, checks a few things, tell me everything looks good to him from the modem to the pole, and leaves. After some research, I see that these newer modems that Spectrum has standardized on suffers from the Intel Puma 6/7 performance problems. No difference.Īfter contacting Spectrum again, and they offer to send a tech in a few days and in the meantime, swap the modem (same Hitron EN2251 model). I decide to take a piece of coax, and run it directly from the modem to the drop from the pole, eliminating any possible inside cable issues. I swap out my firewall with another that I have, and I see the same issue: If more than one person is online, then there is severe lag and packets start dropping to point where it is unusable. I contact Spectrum, they tell me everything looks good on their end. Immediately, I notice severe lag and after some troubleshooting, I see packets dropping. I go through the process and with the new modem up and running, plug it into my firewall. The Cisco DPC3008 modem that I've had for about 6 years can't handle the newer speeds, so they send me a self install kit (Spectrum D3.1 eMTA, which I believe encompasses multiple models, this one was a Hitron EN2251). I have been trucking along with Spectrum standard (100/10 Mbps) service for a few years now without issue.
